The course “Introduction to Environmental Science” provides students with a fundamental understanding of the environment and the interactions among its major components: the atmosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. It explores the structure and evolution of the atmosphere, geological processes, the hydrological cycle, ecosystems, biodiversity, and biogeochemical cycles. Students learn about population dynamics, environmental health, pollution, climate change, resource depletion, and the impacts of human activities on natural systems. The course also emphasizes environmental protection, sustainability, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through theoretical concepts, discussions, and practical exercises, students develop analytical and problem-solving skills to understand environmental challenges and explore the role of space science and Earth observation technologies in monitoring environmental changes and supporting sustainable development.
